Haughton receives two-game ban from RFU

Wasps back Richard Haughton has been banned for two weeks for dangerous play during the game against Sale Sharks earlier this month. Haughton was banned by Wasps on March 10 and was cited by independent citing officer Alan Mansell for his actions during the Sale game. The offence, which Haughton admitted to, was lifting Sale scrum-half Will Cliff and dropping or driving him into the ground. After being called in front of Rugby Football Union disciplinary officer Judge Jeff Blackett, Haughton was then handed a two-week ban. The ban was imposed from March 10, when Wasps imposed an internal suspension, and can therefore play again on March 24. Wasps play an Aviva Premiership game away at Northampton three days after Haughton can resume playing so he would be back available for selection again.
