Star batsman Virender Sehwag is expected to play in India's World Cup clash with England on Sunday despite suffering a blow to the ribs.

Sehwag was forced out of a net session on Friday after he was hit in the side by a local bowler, crumpling to the ground seemingly in agony.

The opener was forced to miss the rest of the session, but team manager Ranjib Biswal has now described that as merely a "precautionary measure".

It was later confirmed that Sehwag, who hit a magnificent 175 in their opening Group B clash with Bangladesh, sustained only very minor bruising.

He had already been struggling with a knee injury which forced him to play with a runner for a major part of his innings in Dhaka.

Fellow big-hitting batsman Yuvraj Singh has also been passed fit to play in Bangalore after taking a blow to his hand in practice on Thursday.
