Morgan: Finger may not need surgery
Eoin Morgan might not need surgery on his broken finger but is still highly likely to miss England's World Cup campaign.
The middle-order batsman was expected to have an operation on the injury, which he picked up during the recent one-day international series in Australia.
But Morgan has stated on his Twitter feed that he will not need to go under the knife and will be back in action sooner than first thought.
An England spokesman has explained that he still needs to be reassessed before a final decision is made, though.
He said: "He will be reassessed again in the next two days, and that decision will be taken then. But it is likely he will not need surgery."
Even if he escapes surgery, it is thought that the 24-year-old will need to recover for four weeks before his next injury update.
England have already called up Ravi Bopara to replace him in the England squad, so if Morgan is fit for the knockout stages of the World Cup he could only return if another batsman is injured.
