Australia set to replace injured duo with Krejza and Ferguson
Australia's Nathan Hauritz and Mike Hussey look set to miss out on the World Cup after both picked up injuries in the recent one-day international series against England.
Spinner Hauritz has a dislocated shoulder and middle-order batsman Hussey has a hamstring injury, with Cricket Australia applying to replace them with Jason Krejza and Callum Ferguson in their 15-man squad for the subcontinent.
Krejza made his one-day debut in Sunday's win over England in Perth and benefits from an injury to second-choice spinner Xavier Doherty, while Ferguson will replace Hussey in the absence of Shaun Marsh.
Commenting on the decision to request the changes, chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said: "During the Commonwealth Bank Series we had a number of injuries to prominent players in our World Cup squad.
"Specifically, both Mike Hussey and Nathan Hauritz suffered significant injuries both of which necessitated surgery.
"The National Selection Panel has received a full briefing from CA medical staff. Based on the medical advice an application is being made to the ICC to replace both players in the World Cup squad."
Captain Ricky Ponting is on schedule to play, however, after physio Alex Kountouris confirmed his broken finger is healing according to schedule, while both Brad Haddin (knee) and Steve Smith (groin) should also recover in time.
