Former England bowler says Tremlett well suited to the WACA
Former England bowler Darren Gough believes that Chris Tremlett should replace Stuart Broad for the third Ashes Test in Perth.
Broad will not be available for the rest of the series after suffering a torn abdominal muscle during the second Test in Adelaide.
And Gough thinks that Tremlett should be brought in ahead of other possible replacements such as Tim Bresnan and Ajmal Shahzad for the clash at the WACA.
Gough believes that the towering seamer will be the most suited to the pitch in Perth, which traditionally generates a lot of pace and bounce.
"We've got to go with someone who has aggression with the ball so I'd go for Tremlett," he said.
Great season
"Anywhere else then maybe Bresnan, but I think Tremlett for Perth. He's a fantastic bowler, he's had a great season and he can bat as well. I think he has a good chance."
Gough feels sympathy with Broad having himself been ruled out of the 2002-03 series Down Under and offered some words of encouragement for the 24-year-old paceman.
He added: "He's following in my footsteps, Broady. He uses the same number as me, eight, in the one-dayers but I hope this doesn't mean he has the same injury problems I did.
"It will be very hard for him to take but he's played in the first two Tests so he can feel like a part of things if England do make history and he's not there at the end.
"I know how he feels, it all happens very quickly and the next thing you know you're flying home.
"He's a fantastic bowler and he'll be a huge loss but the great thing about this England side is that they don't just have 11 great players, they've got 16."
