Veteran seam bowler signs up for 21st county season

Former England seamer Dominic Cork has agreed a new one-year contract with Hampshire. With regular skipper Dimitri Mascarenhas sidelined by injury, Cork captained the county to Friends Provident t20 glory in 2010 and also took 45 wickets in the LV County Championship. Those performances were enough to convince the 39-year-old to continue for another season - which will be the 21st of his career and third with Hampshire. "After such a fantastic season it was just a matter of time before I committed myself to another year at The Rose Bowl," he said. "I was immensely proud to win the t20 cup and to captain the team generally for the second half of last season. "Thankfully, I still feel able to do a job for Hampshire and so I'm delighted to be coming back and I look forward to hopefully winning a few more trophies next year."

Delighted

Hampshire manager Giles White welcomed the return of Cork for another season. "Dominic had an exceptional season and was a huge part of the team's success in 2010," said Whte. "I am delighted that he signed for another year."
