England all-rounder Luke Wright has signed to appear for Wellington during the New Zealand domestic Twenty20 competition.

Wright was overlooked for the Ashes and Performance Programme squads heading to Australia this winter, but is a strong candidate to be included in the one-day international squad for the seven matches against Australia in January.

The New Zealand domestic Twenty20 competition runs through December, meaning Wright should be able to get match practice before the Australia series.

The 25-year-old has played 27 T20 internationals and 42 one-day internationals for England and boasts a batting strike rate of 129.13 in the shortest format.
