Promising batsman Alexei Kervezee has signed a long-term deal with Worcestershire that will keep him at New Road until 2015.

The 20-year-old Dutchman, who will qualify to play for England at the end of next year, joined the county in 2006 and has become a regular this season.

"Since arriving four years ago, I have really settled in well and am grateful for the opportunities Worcestershire has given me to forge a career in first class cricket," he said.

"In return I want to commit my future here and be part of what I think is a very positive future."

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes, added: "Alexei is developing into a very fine cricketer and is one of the young talented players we want to keep at this club for a long time.

"We are delighted he sees his long term future with us."
