Thrilling strokeplay: Gibbs
Yorkshire Carnegie claimed their first win of the Friends Provident t20 with a nine-wicket thrashing of Durham Dynamos at Headingley on Thursday.
Andrew Gale and Herschelle Gibbs shared an unbroken 137-run stand for the second wicket - Yorkshire's record partnership in T20 cricket - as the home side chased down a target of 157 with four overs to spare.
Captain Gale hit five fours and three sixes on the way to finishing with 60 not out from 42 balls, while Gibbs contributed an unbeaten 76 from 39 deliveries, including seven fours and four sixes.
The South African had joined his skipper in the middle after Steve Harmison (1-25) made Durham's only breakthrough, bowling Jacques Rudolph (13) at the start of the fourth over.
The visitors had earlier been restricted to 156-7 after being asked to bat.
Ross Taylor (31), Ben Stokes (32) and Albie Morkel (33) all fell when well set as Tykes duo Richard Pyrah (3-23) and Adil Rashid (2-31) shared five wickets.
The result was Yorkshire's first success in three North Group matches, while Durham remain winless with two defeats and a no-result from their three games.
