Mordt: Heading to Sarries
Saracens have completed their signings for the 2010/11 season by adding Nils Mordt and Matt Parr to their squad.
"I have known Nils for some time, and he has great hands and fantastic natural ability. He's also an outstanding character, and I'm sure he will thrive in our environment."
Brendan Venter Quotes of the week
The 26-year-old Mordt joins the beaten Guinness Premiership finalists after spending the past season with Harlequins, while prop Parr will make the step up from Nottingham.
Mordt, the son on former Springbok international Ray, has previously played for Northampton and London Irish, while he also representing England Saxons and Sevens.
And director of rugby Brendan Venter believes Mordt will "thrive" at the club.
He said: "I have known Nils for some time, and he has great hands and fantastic natural ability. He's also an outstanding character, and I'm sure he will thrive in our environment."
Parr, a 27-year-old who has had stints at Sale and Leicester, is hoping he can match the impact former team-mate Petrus du Plessis has had.
Parr said: "Petrus du Plessis moved from Nottingham to Saracens a couple of months ago, and has done really well, so I'm looking forward to following the same path.
"Anybody who has watched Saracens over the past few months can see there is something happening at the club... and, you know what, it's special."
Du Plessis played a key role in seeing Parr head to Vicarage Road after singing his praises to Venter.
"Matt has been highly recommended to us, not least by his front row team-mate Petrus, and we are confident we have found another gem in the Championship," said Venter.
"We are not a club that trawls the who's who of world rugby - we look for players with talent and character, and that's exactly what we have signed in Matt."
