Leinster lock not in the party for Argentina trip

British & Irish Lions forward Nathan Hines is the most notable omission from the Scotland squad for the two-Test tour to Argentina. The robust Leinster lock is not named in the 27-man squad, as he heads to Australia for compassionate reasons. But the door has been left open for him to link up with the touring party at a later date. Chris Paterson, Thom Evans and Rory Lamont are all missing through injury, but despite the absences coach Andy Robinson has opted against major changes. Only Edinburgh full-back Jim Thompson is uncapped, with Robinson sticking with the 22 players who won March's final RBS Six Nations match in Ireland. Robinson said: "We are really looking forward to playing against Argentina. "We have a lot of respect for the way the game is played there and we want to improve upon our success in our most recent game in the Six Nations. "As well as our two Test matches in Argentina, we will prepare for those contests with our game at Murrayfield against a Japan Select. "In addition, there are matches against Georgia, Namibia and Argentina Jaguars for Scotland A in the IRB Nations Cup. "So, from my perspective, we are playing six Test matches this summer and that will be reflected when we announce the Scotland A squad next week." The first Test against the Pumas takes place on Saturday, June 12, with the second a week later.
