Leinster face an anxious wait over the fitness of Jonathan Sexton, Rob Kearney, Girvan Dempsey and Fergus McFadden ahead of the Heineken Cup semi-final clash with Toulouse.

The quartet have all been included in Michael Cheika's extended squad for the match - with Ireland fly-half Sexton the biggest concern.

Sexton has been in superb form for the Irish province - with his kicking and ability to release a potent backline crucial to Leinster's hopes.

However Cheika admitted the quartet face a race against time to be fit in time for the crunch tie.

"We've had a couple of injuries that we weren't preparing for, such as Dempsey and McFadden," he said.

Confidence

"Girvan trained a bit on Tuesday, he got a pretty heavy neck injury against Connacht and McFadden got an injury against the Ospreys which he hasn't been able to overcome. He didn't train much at all on Tuesday.

"Sexton was able to train a little bit, so they'd be the three real concerns.

"The only way that he will be playing is if we feel that he can do his job to the fullest. If we have to play him and hide him out the back, or something like that, then he won't be playing.

"If he can, and if he's confident 100% that he can play, then he'll play. If not, Shaun (Berne) will play. We have a lot of confidence in Shaun. Isa (Nacewa) has also played fly-half before.

"Rob Kearney we'd be a lot more positive on him after Tuesday, so I suppose it's mainly in our backs where the issues are and apart from that everyone is running really well."
