Worcester look set to release Ryan Powell, Netani Talei and Calum MacRae at the end of the season.

The Warriors have been busy rebuilding their side for the 2010-11 campaign, with Andy Goode, Luke Rooney and Bruce Douglas among those set to arrive at Sixways in the summer.

However the club are now planning to clear the decks ahead of the new arrivals with the trio set to become the first to be told they are free to look for new clubs.

With academy product Jonny Arr agreeing a two-year deal and rumours of another experienced scrum-half set to sign, former Wales No.9 Powell will be surplus to requirements.

Fijian No.8 Talei is expected to make way with Adam Balding joining from Newcastle, while MacRae is likely to return to Scotland after struggling to secure a regular place in the first team.

Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock has made it clear he needs to increase his quota of English-qualified players - with Premiership clubs needing to ensure 65 per cent of their match-day squads is made up of home-grown talent to receive a share of an end-of-season payout.

And the departure of the 'overseas' would free up Ruddock's option for the coming season.

On Arr signing a new deal, Ruddock added: "It is great news that Jonny Arr has decided to extend his stay at the Warriors.

"He is a fine young player and fine young man who is developing very nicely at Sixways Stadium.

"Jonny has really produced during the second half of this season and has capitalised on Ryan Powell's injury to make 22 appearances already. The opportunity has allowed him to maintain a run of games as the No.1 scrum-half at the club."
