Hooker extends contract with Welsh region
Wales international Steve Jones has penned a new two-year deal with Newport Gwent Dragons to keep him at Rodney Parade until 2012.
The 32-year-old hooker played for UWIC and Neath before joining the Dragons at the inception of regional rugby in 2003.
Jones, who has won five caps for Wales, made his international debut against Japan in 2001 and was included in the 2007 Test squad to tour Australia.
With captain Tom Willis ruled out for much of the 2009/10 season with a calf injury, Jones has also skippered the Men of Gwent on numerous occasions.
Exciting
"I've really enjoyed my years at the Dragons and I think this is an exciting time to be involved with the region," said Jones.
"We have a strong group of players at Rodney Parade and with a lot of home-grown talent coming through, I'm looking forward to another two years here.
"There is a great atmosphere in the camp and a really strong team spirit."
Dragons rugby manager Robert Beale is thrilled to have secured Jones' commitment until 2012.
"We are delighted to have retained the services of Steve for the next two years," said Beale.
"He is an integral part of our squad and future plans."
