Tredwell: incisive spell
James Tredwell took three wickets as England Lions made a winning start to their tour with a 52-run success over the United Arab Emirates A in Sharjah.
The Lions defended a total of 184-5 from their 20 overs with Kent off-spinner Tredwell, who will be part of the full England squad for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh, recording figures of 3-22.
Somerset all-rounder Peter Trego chipped in with 2-14 as the home side's run chase finished well short on 132-7.
Man-of-the-match Trego had earlier blasted 25 off 10 balls, including three sixes, at the end of the Lions' innings.
All of the top order made solid contributions with Michael Lumb (42) and Ian Bell (37no) leading the way to fully justify skipper Andrew Gale's decision to bat first.
The Lions' next game is against Pakistan A at the same venue on February 12.
