Peel: Fitness boost
Wales scrum-half Dwayne Peel has received a massive boost after being told his groin injury is not as bad as first feared.
The Sale star was omitted from the 35-man Wales squad for the RBS Six Nations after he hobbled off during the Heineken Cup defeat to Cardiff Blues.
However, Peel underwent a scan on the injury on Monday night - with the 28-year-old buoyed by news that he has not suffered a tear.
Peel said, "The specialist scanned the injury and it's a groin strain. Hopefully I should be back in full training in a couple of weeks."
Doubts over how long Peel would be sidelined meant coach Warren Gatland opted to name Gareth Cooper, Martin Roberts and the uncapped Richie Rees as his options for the No.9 jersey.
However the news that Peel could be back playing in the next few weeks could see him added to the squad - although the Six Nations opener against England at Twickenham on February 6 could come too soon.
