Carberry: Call up
Hampshire opener Michael Carberry has been called up to the England squad as cover for Paul Collingwood.
Although the England management expect Collingwood to be passed fit for the third Test in Cape Town, Carberry has been added to the squad as a precautionary measure.
Collingwood suffered a dislocation to his left index finger on the fourth morning of the second Test - and although x-rays revealed their was no break, the Durham all-rounder was forced to sit out the rest of the comprehensive win.
The uncapped Carberry made a century for England Lions against New Zealand at the Rose Bowl in May last year, having joined his third county Hampshire from Kent in 2005.
He had a prolific 2009 in county cricket, making more than 1,200 championship runs at an average of almost 70.
The left-handed top-order batsman was rewarded with a place on the England Performance Programme trip this winter to Pretoria, where he recently made a hundred against the Gauteng Strikers.
