Kent have extended the contracts of Darren Stevens and Robbie Joseph to keep them at the County Ground for the next two seasons.

"Both are quality players and, with Rob Key, Martin van Jaarsveld and Geraint Jones recently extending their deals, the nucleus of the team is now taking shape."
Paul Farbrace Quotes of the week

All-rounder Stevens moved to Kent from Leicestershire in 2005 and has 155 first-class appearances to his name as well as 202 List A caps.

The 33-year-old helped the Spitfires to Twenty20 Cup glory in 2007, hitting an unbeaten 30 to steer Kent home against Gloucestershire at Edgbaston.

Antiguan-born Joseph has been around the fringes of the England team over the last 12 months after earns call-ups for the Lions and the Performance Programme.

Having joined Kent in April 2004, Joseph struggled to make an impact early on at Canterbury, however he has since become a key play for the Spitfires.

And team director Paul Farbrace is delighted that the duo have agreed to stay and help form the core of a strong squad.

He said: "Both are quality players and, with Rob Key, Martin van Jaarsveld and Geraint Jones recently extending their deals, the nucleus of the team is now taking shape."
