England seamer Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the remaining two one-day internationals against Australia due to a knee injury, but is expected to be fit for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The Nottinghamshire paceman has been replaced by James Anderson for the sixth ODI at Trent Bridge, and will miss the final game at Chester-le-Street due to inflammation of the tendon in his right knee.

Broad was also rested for the third ODI earlier in the series, but despite his setback, reports suggest the 23-year-old will be back in time for England's Champions Trophy opener against Sri Lanka on September 25.

England have been drawn in Group B of the tournament alongside the hosts South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka with the final at SuperSport Park in Centurion on October 5.

The only other change by the host nation for the penultimate ODI against the Aussies sees Graeme Swann recalled at the expense of Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid.

Australia named Brett Lee and James Hopes in place of rested pair Michael Clarke and Mitchell Johnson. Ricky Ponting won his first toss of the series and opted to bat.
