Chief executive Stewart Regan admits Jacques Rudolph faces an uncertain future at Yorkshire as the England and Wales Cricket Board look to impose stricter controls on Kolpak players.

Rudolph - a former South Africa batsman - was one of the most high-profile players to take advantage of the Kolpak ruling which allows foreign cricketers to play in the English county game without being classed as an overseas player.

However, the ECB are now looking into a stricter programme of checks for players looking to use the regulation.

Rudolph is scheduled to sit down with the ECB to discuss the implications of his future, and the 28-year-old concedes he could have to rethink his situation.

"I'm having a meeting at some point with people from the ECB to discuss my future," he told the York Press.

"I think I'll know one way or the other by the end of the month.

"If I can't qualify here, I will definitely go back to South Africa. That's my only way back to playing any overseas cricket as a professional."

Regan added: "Now a player has to have had international experience within the last five years. The longer Jacques plays for Yorkshire as a Kolpak, the harder it is going to be to satisfy that criteria.

"The clock is ticking because I think he played his last international in 2006. By 2011 he will have hit his deadline.

"We have got to make sure he is not without the ability to get a work permit."
