Kent have signed Australia seam bowler Stuart Clark as their overseas player for the first part of the 2009 season.

Clark, 33, will join Kent until the beginning of June when he is likely to link up with Australia's Ashes squad in England.

The New South Welshman is on the comeback trail following elbow surgery three months ago.

Kent's chairman of cricket Graham Johnson told the club's AGM: "Stuart is a tremendous character and has a great record.

"He is a genuine wicket-taker and will bring a great amount to the side."

Clark has taken 90 Test wickets at an average of 22.96 and has enjoyed previous county stints with Hampshire and Middlesex.
