Faure: France international
Sale prop Lionel Faure will leave Edgeley Park and return to France at the end of the season.
The 31-year-old front row forward will join Clermont Auvergne in the Top 14 following four years in the north west.
After making the move from Pau in 2005 he proved an integral member of the Guinness Premiership winning side in 2006.
"Lionel wishes to return to France for personal reasons, which we fully understand," Sharks chief executive James Jennings said.
"During his time at Sale Sharks Lionel has made a tremendous contribution and he will be missed by players and fans alike."
The news will come as a blow to incoming head coach Jason Robinson as he looks to rebuild a team in transition when he takes over at the end of the current campaign.
And Faure will not be on his own in swapping Sale for France, with flanker Jason White having also agreed a deal with Clermont, while former director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre is joining Toulon. Sebastien Bruno and Sebastien Chabal have also announced they will be returning to France in the summer.
