Indian Cricket League organisers have announced the signing of 13 Bangladesh players, including former captain Habibul Bashar.

"We do have many players and the ICL is not going to stop us from playing for Bangladesh."

The Twenty20 league operates outside the jurisdiction of the International Cricket Council and those who participate risk being banned by their home boards from officially-sanctioned international cricket.

Bashar, his former deputy Shahriar Nafees, all-rounder Alok Kapali and wicketkeeper Dhiman Ghosh were presented at an ICL news conference on Tuesday. Bashar stated that all-rounders Farhad Reza and Aftab Ahmed had also signed.

In addition, the ICL list named pacemen Manjural Islam, Mohammad Sharif and Tapash Baisya, wicketkeeper Mabud Chowdhury, batsman Mahbubul Karim and left-arm spinners Mohammad Rafique and Mosharraf Hossain.

Dhaka Warriors

Organisers revealed the Bangladesh players will compete in the ICL's second season, which starts on October 10, as the newly-formed Dhaka Warriors, the league's ninth team.

Bashar, who is his country's leading Test run scorer and most successful skipper, denied he had betrayed Bangladesh cricket by joining the ICL.

"I don't think that is right," he said. "We do have many players and the ICL is not going to stop us from playing for Bangladesh."

At least six of the players - Bashar, Nafees, Aftab, Reza, Ghosh and Hossain - had officially resigned from their Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) contracts earlier in the week.

The BCB convened a meeting of its executive committee on Wednesday after the original six players summoned to attend the cricket operations committee failed to respond.

"We will decide appropriate actions against them as they breached contracts by disobeying the summons," said committee chairman Gazi Ashraf Hossain.
