Pakistan were bowled out for 233 in the opening game of the tri-nations series against Bangladesh, but it was enough to give them victory by 70 runs in Dhaka.

In a match reduced to 40 overs per side following rain showers, Pakistan were asked to bat first and had Salman Butt (70) and Mohammad Yousuf (59) to thank for solid half centuries as they made 233.

Big-hitting Misbah-ul-Haq also struck 39 from just 22 balls to the give the tourists a late boost, although they lost their last five wickets for six runs in a frantic finale.

Mohammad Ashraful batted sensibly for his 56 not out as Bangladesh replied, but they could not come close to threatening their opponent's total after slumping to 98-5 in 27 overs.

Wickets fell at regular intervals with Wahab Riaz (3-22) and Shahid Afridi (3-19) taking three wickets apiece as the hosts limped to 163-8 in their 40 overs.

Pakistan will now look to extend their run of 12 successive victories in one-day internationals against India on Tuesday.
