Phil Jaques says the return of Matthew Hayden gives Australia a major boost for the series decider against India, starting in Adelaide on Thursday.
Australia lead the series 2-1 but come into the match on the back of a 72-run defeat in the third Test at Perth.
India's success at the WACA ended a record-equalling run of 16 consecutive Test wins by Australia, and coincided with absence of Hayden due to a hamstring injury.
The Queensland opener scored centuries in both of the first two Tests as Australia built a 2-0 advantage in the four-match series.
But his replacement in Perth, Chris Rogers, contributed scores of 4 and 15 on debut and Jaques admits it will be nice to have Hayden back as his opening partner.
"Obviously Matt coming back into the side will make a big difference to our team," said Jaques.
"He has a wealth of knowledge, he's got lots of experience and is a great guy to have in the team."
"My mindset (in Perth) didn't change much not having Matt there but obviously having him there will give the whole side a boost.
"Every Test we play we get a better understanding of running between the wickets and how each other plays. It's definitely good to have a regular guy there."
Honest
Jaques blamed defeat in Perth on a poor batting effort and expects a much improved performance at the traditionally batsman-friendly Adelaide Oval.
"They (India) bowled with some very good discipline and they batted pretty well, but I think if we're honest we didn't play the way that we can play, we all know that, particularly in the batting department," he added.
"We'll be looking at our top order to fire and I'm sure we'll have a better effort this time.
"We'll obviously be looking at winning this Test match and really ramming home that series win.
"To draw the series will be really disappointing, we really want to win as many games of cricket as possible.
"We'll approach it as we always approach it which is fiercely competitive and play the game the right way but play the game hard. We'll be trying to be as aggressive as possible without crossing that line."
Australia are expected to make two changes from the side that lost in Perth - Hayden returning for Rogers and Shaun Tait making way for left-arm wrist-spinner Brad Hogg.
Hogg played in the first two Tests before being dropped for Tait at the WACA as Australia opted to go with an all-pace attack for the first time in 16 years.
It was not a success and they are almost certain to recall Hogg for an Adelaide pitch that is likely to turn as the match progresses.
