Rudolph: Four-year deal

Jacques Rudolph has opened the door on potentially playing for England after agreeing a new four-year deal at Yorkshire.

Rudolph made 35 Test appearances for South Africa before his controversial move to Headingley in the summer on a Kolpak deal.

The move had contravened England and Wales Cricket Board regulations on Kolpak signings, with the 26-year-old having played for the Proteas in the 12 months prior to the deal.

However, with Yorkshire proving the law was unenforceable, Rudolph was able to arrive at Yorkshire as a non-overseas player - and he flourished in his debut season as he topped the side's first-class and one-day averages.

And with Rudolph agreeing to extend his stay at the White Rose county until 2011, he would be eligible to play for England on residency.

Yorkshire chief executive Stewart Regan said: "The longer deal allows Jacques the potential opportunity to qualify for and go on to represent England in the future.

"This is a significant development in Jacques career. He is here for the long-term and the club is delighted to have him playing for the White Rose."

However, Rudolph is happy just to have his future sorted at the club.

He said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my first season with Yorkshire, both on and off the pitch.

"Everything about the club is professional, supportive and focused on getting results.

"I'm really pleased to have signed the new contract and look forward to seeing the Yorkshire lads again in March next year for pre-season training.

"We can then concentrate on winning some matches and trophies for Yorkshire."
