England have called up Sussex all-rounder Luke Wright for the final two matches of the NatWest Series against India.

The 22-year-old has been drafted in to cover for injured pair Andrew Flintoff and Ravi Bopara.

Lancastrian Flintoff missed the defeat at Headingley on Sunday due to discomfort in his troublesome left ankle.

It was in that match that Bopara suffered a dislocated thumb when he attempted to take a return catch off his own bowling.

The duo are to be reassessed at practice on Tuesday ahead of the sixth match of the series at The Brit Oval.

England are already certain to be without Chris Tremlett, who will not be fit to play despite having an injection in his injured foot.

Twenty20 star

Wright, who will be part of England's squad for the upcoming ICC Twenty20 tournament in South Africa, started his career with Leicestershire before moving to Hove.

He helped Sussex win the C&G Trophy at Lord's in 2006 when they defeated Lancashire in the final.

However, he has come to prominence this year after a stellar Twenty20 Cup campaign that saw him finish as the leading run-scorer in the competition.

As well as his talents with the bat, Wright also offers a bowling option with his right-arm medium pace.
