England coach Peter Moores remains hopeful Andrew Flintoff will be fit to play in the third one-dayer against India on Monday.
The talismanic all-rounder is a doubt for Edgbaston after he hurt his right knee when he collided with an advertising hoarding in the second match at Bristol.
He had a cortisone injection to try and get him fit for action but he was only able to bat in Sunday's practice session.
However, Moores is not yet ready to rule the Lancastrian out, telling
Sky Sports News: "At the moment, it's very promising. We'll make a sensible decision."
Selection issues
The absence of Flintoff, who has only just returned to the international fold after having an operation on his troublesome left ankle, would leave England needing to bolster their bowling attack.
Left-arm spinner Monty Panesar was controversially omitted on Friday as the home side went in with four frontline seamers, a decision that back-fired when India made 329-7.
Chris Tremlett, selected in place of Panesar, conceded 73 runs in nine overs as the tourists levelled the series with a nine-run win.
"There were reasons we went with that (team) and it wasn't anything to do with Monty," Moores said.
"It was more that we felt the short boundaries and the extra bounce of (Chris) Tremlett might be the best way forward to try and contain the Indian batsmen. It proved not to be.
"You make decisions what you feel will be the best side on the day."
India, like their opponents, have some decisions to make over their bowling attack.
Zaheer Khan should be fit to play after missing the second ODI due to flu. Ajit Agarkar could make way for the left-arm seamer.
