Latu found guilty of abusing Warrington star
The Rugby Football League (RFL) has handed Wakefield Wildcats hooker Tevita Leo-Latu a six-game ban for racial abuse.
New Zealander Latu was found guilty of racially abusing Warrington Wolves winger Kevin Penny in the Super League clash between the sides on June 17.
Penny reported the abuse to a touch judge, and the RFL has taken time before acting strongly on the matter.
'Tackle It'
RFL chairman Richard Lewis insists there is a zero tolerance policy in place, and says that there is no place for such scenes.
"Racism will not be tolerated in any form in rugby league," he said. "Through our 'Tackle It' campaign which we launched in 2006 we asked for clubs to adopt a policy of zero tolerance of racism in any form.
"Clubs have made a commitment to ensure that players, spectators, staff and volunteers can enjoy an environment free of discrimination and racism.
"Anyone who breaks this commitment will be punished."
Former Cronulla Shark Latu has until August 22 to appeal the suspension, while the Wildcats have launched their own investigation.
The news comes as a blow to coach John Kear's play-off hopes as Harlequins head to Belle Vue on Sunday.
