The scout reports...

We run the rule over Croatian midfield prospect Josip Radosevic, who is quickly emerging as one of the most highly-rated young players in Europe. Split-born Radosevic joined his hometown club Hajduk before he was a teenager, and has long been regarded as their top prospect. Radosevic was brought into the Hajduk senior squad in mid-2011 when he was 17, and he was handed his senior debut later in the year. He is now a firm fixture in the Hajduk side and a host of clubs are chasing him - but the club understood to be at the head of the queue is Real Madrid. Former Real star and director Predrag Mijatovic is reported to have played a big part in bringing Radosevic to their attention, and now a deal is believed to be close. Jose Mourinho is reported to have personally checked on Radosevic and given his approval to a deal for the summer of 2013. Real have made their move just as a host of rivals take a keen interest in Radosevic, who was handed his international debut last month. After impressing for Hajduk, Radosevic was called up by Igor Stimac and he started the World Cup qualifier in Belgium which ended in a 1-1 draw. Radosevic's appearance in Brussels made history as he became the youngest player to ever play for Croatia. Nicknamed 'Gattuso' by his team-mates at Hajduk is an indication of the type of player Radosevic is, although he is much more of a playmaker, despite his excellent physical attributes. The Spanish press have labelled Radosevic as the heir-apparent for Xabi Alonso and that does seem a much better comparison. His role for Hajduk and Croatia is as a defensive midfielder, but he is not just there to break up play. Radosevic's main attribute is his reading of the game and, despite being just 18, his positional sense is outstanding. His passing is very good but he also has an eye for goal, whilst he is also a very good set-piece taker.

The scout says...

Seemingly destined for Real Madrid, Radosevic looks to have the footballing world at his feet. A physically and technically impressive figure, Radosevic could yet benefit from an additional season in Croatia but it remains to be seen what Real will have planned for him.
