Clermont Auvergne booked themselves a home quarter-final against Leicester with a 28-3 win over Racing Metro.

If they get past the Tigers, last year's finalists will then face an away trip to the winners of Ulster v Saracens, but Alan Quinlan still says they are the favourites.

"If I had to pick a winner now I would say that Clermont are the team - I think they are going to win at some stage," Quinlan told Sky Sports.

The former Munster backrower was also delighted that his former club earned themselves a home play-off and says that they are really improving quickly.

"It was a superb second half performance from Munster, the determination they showed and they had a real edge to them. They blew Edinburgh away.

"How far can they go? Well they are improving a lot and are getting a lot of consistency into their game. In the Rabo they have won 10 games out of 12.

"They had that slip-up in Edinburgh but I think they have grown from that. Their performances have not always been the best but I have been impressed with them; they soak up the pressure and control the game.

"However there are no weak teams in the quarter-finals, they are all powerful, powerful teams - 13 Heineken Cup trophies between them and there is real quality there. I am really looking forward to the play-offs."

Scott Quinnell is also excited about the play-offs and as there are no Welsh teams to throw his support behind, he has opted for Clermont as well.

"Ospreys went out after round three so I am going for Clermont," said Quinnell.

"But no matter what, I cannot wait. It's all going to be about the mindset now - these are mouth-watering games. Teams like Munster, Ulster, Leinster, Toulouse and Toulon have been there and done it and they know what it is like to win this competition.

"Sarries will be desperate to go one step further -they have been to a semi-final, they want a final. Clermont have unfinished business in a final too. It is just incredible and it is going to be just fantastic come April."
