Hamburg general manager Oliver Kreuzer says the club has pulled the plug on contract negotiations as the Bundesliga relegation battle takes precedence.

The side are currently 16th in the German top-flight standings, with seven games left to play.

Tomas Rincon, Robert Tesche, Sven Neuhaus, Valmir Nafiu and Florian Stritzel are all out of contract at the end of the current term, while the loans of Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Ola John, Ousim Bouy and Johan Djourou all expire in the summer.

Kreuzer acknowledged players may feel uncomfortable with the situation but he is unwilling to be distracted from the task in hand as Hamburg remain locked in a relegation dogfight.

"The players want to know how things are," he told BILD.

"It is important to know there is a difference between playing in Bundesliga 1 and Bundesliga 2.

"However, it is not ideal to discuss deals at this point in time. It's even the wrong time to talk about new players."

Despite nine players facing uncertainty over their future at the Imtech Arena, Kreuzer insists the majority of his squad have at least one more season on their current deals.

"95 percent of our players have contracts that expire at least in June 2015 and are valid for Bundesliga 2 also," he added.

"If there had been six to eight deals of first team regulars expiring this summer, we could have a different sort of situation."
