Per Ciljan Skjelbred has stated his belief that it would make sense for Hamburg to sell him in the summer, but is unsure what will happen at the end of his loan spell at Hertha Berlin.

The Norway international joined Hertha on a season-long loan last summer and has previously expressed an interest in remaining with the capital club.

He has a further year to run on his Hamburg contract and the midfielder is hoping he will be allowed to leave on a permanent basis.

"In theory, I should return there," Skjelbred told VG regarding his Hamburg future. "But it does not look like it will be like that. It looks like there will be a different kind of solution.

"Whatever will happen, I do not know myself yet.

"Hertha's interest is there, but that is an issue between Hertha and Hamburg, and possibly other clubs. I do not know anything.

"Should I need to go back, I will have to go back. But I have got just one year left on my contract and I am actually in a good situation.

"If they want to get money for me, and they are having financial problems, it would be a good solution for them to offload me."
