Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Rome until 2019.

The 27-year-old, who impressed for Italy against England at the World Cup, had been linked with a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

However, Candreva has now revealed that he only had eyes for the Biancocelesti, and is pleased to have secured his immediate future.

"I had an important meeting with the club and I extended my contract," Candreva told Lazio Style Radio.

"I'm really happy. Two and a half years ago, I never thought I would get to this.

"I thank the President (Claudia Lotito) for having kept his word, despite the many rumours in the summer."

Meanwhile, the club are expected to bolster their defensive options, with free agent Daniele Portanova reportedly a target.

"Let's hope things go well."
