Leandro Castan: Signed a new deal to keep him at Roma until 2014
Roma have confirmed that Leandro Castan has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2018.
The 27-year-old, who joined from Corinthians in 2012, has established himself as a regular at the Stadio Olimpico and featured 36 times in Serie A last season as Rudi Garcia's side finished second.
Castan has two international caps for Brazil and he formed a key part of the Roma defence which shipped just 25 goals in 38 league games during the last campaign.
Castan still had another two years to run on his original deal, but speculation linking him with an exit to Chelsea among other European clubs prompted Roma to offer renewed terms.
In a statement on the club's official website, Roma president James Pallotta said: "We are extremely pleased and honoured to have extended his contract for another two years.
"He is one of the main reasons why our defence was so strong last season and we want them and many more with the jersey of Rome."
