Rangers assistant boss Kenny McDowall believes the team owe it to the fans to finish the season strongly following the 4-0 victory over Stenhousemuir.

The League One winners have bounced back from the Scottish Cup semi-final heartache to Dundee United's youthful side with two wins in five days.

And McDowall is calling for the players to keep winning, despite already having the title in the bag.

"It is vital we don't take the foot off the gas," McDowall said.

"We have got a great support that comes everywhere and we keep saying 'you need to do your work until the season is finished'. The players have shown that here.

"It was a good performance and we are delighted to play so well at this stage of the season. This is a difficult place to come and the boys were excellent. It possibly could have been more, but we would have taken 4-0 before the game.

"We stifled them. They could not really get near our goal and then when we got it we had good movement. We had good legs in the team today and scored good quality goals."

Stenhousemuir boss Scott Booth admitted his team never recovered from losing the first goal at Ochilview.

"No-one likes getting beaten," Booth said. "I was happy with certain aspects of our play, but I think in a game against a top team the first goal was really important.

"It came in a fashion that was a little bit of a surprise. We were actually playing quite well for the first 20 minutes of the first half and I was happy with things at that stage and did feel quite comfortable."
