Brentford manager Mark Warburton has described Wigan Athletic’s second bid for Adam Forshaw as ‘totally unacceptable’.

Forshaw joined Brentford in 2012 from Everton, initially on loan, and was signed by current Wigan boss Uwe Rosler.

The former Brentford chief is keen on a reunion, but Rosler has seen two offers for the 22-year-old rejected by the Championship new boys.

It is understood that the second bid was in excess of £2million and Warburton is concerned about the effect of the interest on Forshaw amid reports he has told Brentford he wants to leave Griffin Park.

“Adam Forshaw is subject of a bid which is well documented,” Warburton said in London 24. “Any bid is unsettling to a young player.

“I’m concerned about his welfare – he has gone away for a couple of days to get his head straight.

“A bid is only a bid when it’s realistic. When it comes in and unsettles a player – that’s unacceptable. There’s been a second bid which is totally unacceptable.”
