Huddersfield manager Mark Robins says their pre-season friendly with Sheffield United was exactly what his side needed.
His Terriers side were 1-0 winners at Bramall Lane and he feels Nigel Clough's side provided them a good test, following a disappointing performance in their 1-0 defeat at Scunthorpe on Saturday.
He told the club's website: "It was a good work-out because Nigel has his team organised and they have some good players in there - they were semi-finalists in the FA Cup this year. Bramall Lane is always a difficult place to come.
"For the first 15 to 20 minutes we struggled to cope with their threat, but we left them to it and they sorted themselves out through good communication, which was great to see. We managed to get a foothold in the game and from there onwards in we looked a threat all night.
"There was good movement, awareness, talking and we worked hard, which is exactly what you want from a pre-season workout. There were some good performances."
With so many positives to take from the run-out against the Sky Bet League One side, Robins insists the results should not be looked into too much, ahead of their season opener against Bournemouth on August 9.
He added: "I'm absolutely made up with the clean sheet. We were good but pre-season is all about fitness.
"We're 10 days from the season and that's when the result matters, although I'm glad that we've played well, as we had some supporters here. You can't read too much into results though."

It has been a whirlwind few days for new Huddersfield loan midfielder Radoslaw Majewski.
After training with parent-club Nottingham Forest on Tuesday morning, the Polish player was on the road to West Yorkshire, to complete a season-long loan move to the Terriers.
Once formalities were completed on his deal, the 27-year-old travelled to meet with the squad ahead of their pre-season friendly with Sheffield United. He came on for the final 20 minutes at Bramall Lane, setting up Adam Hammill to score the only goal of the game.
He told the club's website of his delight to link-up with the Terriers: "From my point of view, it all happened very quickly. I only found out about Huddersfield's interest in me on Monday.
"I wasn't really expecting to play, but I'm happy I have already made an impact on the team.
"I remember last season the team plays in my style - a passing one which I really like. That's why I decided to come to Huddersfield - because this team plays football and has some good players.
"I want to play and I hope I can make an impact on the team. I want to help Huddersfield achieve its targets for the season. The Championship can be really hard as you don't have that much time on the ball, but I think I can help the team.
"I really want to play in the Premier League one day - I hope that will happen in the future. For the minute though, I'm focussed on playing for Huddersfield."
