Swansea City manager Garry Monk refused to be drawn on specific transfer targets but admits he hopes to get at least two new faces in before September 1.

Swansea have been linked with Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Stambouli this week but Monk refused to discuss any potential new arrivals by name.

Speaking before the weekend game against Burnley, Monk said: "We have targets we are trying to negotiate with and hopefully we will have two or three in before the end of the window.

"We've been linked with a million players, some I have heard of, some I haven't. But until these deals are done and dusted it would be wrong of me to talk about them while they are with other clubs.

"It's all about identifying players and negotiating and doing it the right way, not being disrespectful. There are offers going in, that's just the way it is."

Regarding the Burnley game, Monk has demanded his players do not lose their focus after their fine opening day win at Old Trafford.

He said: "Burnley are a hard-working side and they are a group that works for one another and are a real threat.

"It's always great when you beat the big teams, even more so when nobody gave us a chance. You can never tell until you cross the white line but they understand how important it is to perform again."

Monk also said he is waiting on international clearance before finding whether Argentina defender Federico Fernandez, an £8m arrival from Napoli this week, can feature on Saturday.
