Blackpool boss Jose Riga says he does not "feel like a manager yet" because of the way the club is run and the issues he faces.

Riga, who was appointed at the start of June following a spell at Charlton, has lost his opening four games in charge of Blackpool including a 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat to League Two side Shrewsbury.

The Seasiders' endured a troublesome summer as their pre-season tour of Spain was cancelled due to having just eight first-teamers on their books following a 27-player exodus at the end of last season.

Blackpool have since been busy in the transfer market, bringing in 19 new faces mainly on free transfers, but Riga remains frustrated with the club's set-up and some of the tasks he is being posed with.

"I still don’t feel like a manager yet," the 57-year-old told the Blackpool Gazette.

"It's not just about having players here – it's about the infrastructure too.

"Each day I have to face problems a normal manager doesn't have to deal with. I'd prefer not to speak about this every time but when I'm asked the question I'm honest.

"I told everyone it would be difficult at first and it has been. We just have to keep working to find solutions inside the group and hopefully serious solutions can be found outside the group."

Despite being rooted to the bottom of the Championship table after losing their opening three games to Nottingham Forest, Blackburn and Brentford, Riga is optimistic of turning things around.

"In all three league games we've been close to getting a result and we have to take something from that. We aren't far away," he said.

"It has been an impossible mission really in these opening games but I haven't said it. I'm just focussing on my job and working hard.

"We have to be better as a collective at this club. We need to find solutions together. I hope the future is bright here."
