Clough explains Maguire absence

Nigel Clough said Harry Maguire was left out of Sheffield United's 4-2 win against Dundee because the defender was unwell.

Maguire's future at Bramall Lane is the subject of mounting speculation amid reports Hull are poised to return with an increased £2million-plus bid for the former England Under-21 international after having two previous offers turned down. Clough told the club's official website: "Nothing has changed with regards the future of Harry Maguire. "We have a reasonable valuation on him and it hasn't been reached. "The reason he didn't feature against Dundee was because he felt unwell. "It is hard to believe, but he spent too much time in the sun on Thursday afternoon and it wasn't worth risking him." Jamie Murphy, Chris Basham, Jose Baxter and Marc McNulty were all on target for the Blades at Bramall Lane against Scottish Premier League side Dundee, who had beaten Manchester City earlier in pre-season. Clough added: "It was nice to get some of the new players a taste and feel for Bramall Lane. "We played with more pattern and we played in a shape that we will look to build on."
