Burnley defender Ben Mee insists the team are raring to go ahead of their Premier League curtain-raiser with Chelsea.

The Clarets prepared for the Turf Moor clash on Monday week with a 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona.

And Mee, who set up one of the goals for Lukas Jutkiewicz, believes Burnley are ready for the big kick-off.

Mee told the club's website: "It was really good, it was a great run out and they're a good side who finished well in their league last season so it was a good experience going into next week.

"We weren't happy with the start of the second half, we need to start better than that.

"They got in front straight away but it livened us up and we hit back immediately which is a positive and I thought we played really well from there.

"It was a great move, they might have been celebrating a little bit still but we just carry on and go hard and it paid off.

"I'm trying to put that into my game, more crosses into the box from wide areas so it was nice to get an assist."

Turning his attention towards the match with Chelsea in eight days, Mee said: "We've been focusing on it from day one really, from the start of the season and aiming towards it.

"We'll start looking at it more and more this week in depth and the lads are all looking forward to it, it will be a great occasion.

"It's been a really good pre-season, we've settled really well as a group with the new lads coming in, worked hard and everyone is looking fit.

"I'm sure the atmosphere will be really good here at Turf Moor with it being a night game we are all really looking forward to it."
