Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is waiting to learn if any of his players see their futures away from the Britannia Stadium.

Hughes has already been busy in the transfer market since the end of last season after adding Phil Bardsley, Steve Sidwell, Mame Biram Diouf and Dionatan Teixeira to his squad.

The new signings have placed question marks over the futures of several first-team players, including the likes of Geoff Cameron, Peter Crouch, Wilson Palacios and Cameron Jerome.

Hughes has acknowledged there are likely to be departures from Stoke and can understand that players will want to leave in order to find regular first-team football.

"It's a balance,” said Hughes in The Sentinel. "Sometimes players recognise where they are in the group and make the decision themselves that they need to move on to progress their career.

"Some will have those conversations with their people and with their families.

"I don't anticipate a lot of players leaving, but some will feel their futures lie elsewhere."
