Johnny Russell feels Derby County have what it takes to catch Burnley, starting with their next game against Doncaster.

The Rams are eight points behind Burnley with four games to go in the Championship.

Derby's next four fixtures are all against teams from the bottom half of the table, while Burnley have a derby match away at Blackpool and tough games against Wigan, Ipswich and Reading.

Russell feels that his side have squandered chances to leapfrog Burnley, winning only one of their last four league matches.

The 24-year-old told The Sun: "We've let them off at certain times in the season when they have dropped points and we have dropped some silly points as well.

"I think we have left it a little bit late but you never know. Nothing is impossible.

"If they lose their next four games and we win ours, that would do it."

"I don't see why we can't win our last four games.

"They will all be tough but we feel we've got enough in our squad to go and win those games.

"We want to finish as high as we can and we're not going to do that if we relax and think it's already done."

Steve McClaren's men travel to Doncaster on Friday looking to put some pressure on Burnley with a victory.

Paul Dickov's Doncaster are in a scrap for Championship survival, taking only one point from five games. Dickov, a former Derby player, will be desperate for points as they sit three points away from the relegation zone.

Derby first-team coach Paul Simpson said: "Doncaster are fighting for their lives and any team managed by Paul Dickov, assisted by Brian Horton, is going to be tough.

"I know Paul and Brian very well and they will have their team fired up.

"They want to stay in the league and we want to get out of it. It's a big game for both of us."
