Brentford boss Mark Warburton, assistant manager David Weir and the club’s sporting director Frank McParland have all signed new one-year rolling contracts at Griffin Park.

The news will come as a boost to Brentford supporters as the club prepares for its first season in the second tier of English football in 21 years.

Warburton has been at Brentford since early 2011, firstly as interim first-team coach and then sporting director.

He replaced Uwe Rosler as manager last December after the German coach left to join Wigan and steered the Bees to second place in Sky Bet League 1.

When Warburton moved into the manager’s role his old post was filled by McParland, who had previously been Liverpool’s director of academy and head of player development.

Former Scotland international defender Weir arrived in west London following a short spell as boss at Sheffield United last season.

“The past few months have been brilliant for everyone connected with the club," Brentford chairman Cliff Crown said.

“To earn promotion to the Championship was always the aim and to do so in the style we did, breaking points records, winning 19 homes games out of 23 and doing it with games to spare was exhilarating.

“I am delighted we have secured the futures of Frank, Mark and David.

“When they joined forces around six months ago the club was making great progress. Together they have built on those foundations and are looking to crystalise our place in a higher division.

“Brentford FC is now a Championship club continuing to develop on the field and with a new stadium on the horizon.

“Almost 5,000 supporters have already bought season tickets and I know that number will rise.

“I am sure all Brentford fans will see that everyone connected with the club is united and moving in the same direction and, like me, will be very happy that we have secured three key men to help lead us in to the challenges ahead.”
