Javier Acuna has left Watford and joined Club Olimpia Asuncion in his native Paraguay.

The 26-year-old, who had a loan spell with Spanish side Osasuna earlier this year, returns home having made 12 appearances during his sole season with the Hornets.

Watford manager Giuseppe Sannino is happy to let Acuna leave with the player well down the pecking order in his plans.

The summer arrivals of Matej Vydra and Odion Ighalo has increased the competition for places in Watford's attack and Acuna was unlikely to figure in the first-team this forthcoming season.

Acuna arrived at Vicarage Road in July 2013 but managed just one goal for Watford.
