Manchester City scored three second-half goals to overcome UAE Pro-League side Al Ain in a post-season friendly in Abu Dhabi.

Promising teenager Marcos Lopes opened the scoring, with forward Stevan Jovetic adding a second before Jordi Hiwula wrapped up the 3-0 win with a late penalty.

Micah Richards hit the post on 33 minutes as the Premier League champions struggled to impose themselves on the game, while Samir Nasri, still smarting from his World Cup snub, missing a good chance from Aleksandar Kolorov's cross.

Richard Wright, on as a half-time substitute, made a smart save at his near post after the break before Shehab Ahmed bent a free-kick just wide as the hosts started the second half brightly.

But City began to warm to their task after Jovetic had bent an effort just wide, they went ahead as Lopes timed his run to perfection to latch on to Nasri's through-ball and finish neatly.

Wright's double-save maintained City's lead soon after, prompting Dedryck Boyata to burst through the Al Ain defence only to fire his shot over the bar as the game opened up.

Jovetic's composure ensured City would complete the win with a little over 10 minutes remaining and after substitute Sinan Bytyqi wasted a fine chance to add a third, it was fellow substitute and youth team player Hiwula who scored from the spot in the final minute after he had been fouled in the box.
