Tottenham defender Adam Smith has joined Millwall on a three-month loan deal.

The England U21 defender will link up with the Championship club as he looks to gain further first-team experience.

The 21-year-old has already made 89 appearances in the Football League during previous loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers, Torquay United, Bournemouth, MK Dons and Leeds United.

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett was delighted to bringing in Smith with skipper Paul Robinson, Jack Smith, Karleigh Osborne and Alan Dunne all unavailable through injury and suspension for Saturday's trip to Nottingham Forest.

"Adam is a player I have been following for some time," said Jackett.

"He's a very promising young full-back and with both Jack (Smith) and Alan (Dunne) unavailable for Saturday this was an opportunity to bring Adam in to fill that gap in the short-term and hopefully for him to get more first team experience over the next couple of months with us."
