Hull City midfielder Mohamed Diame is confident that the side will achieve success this season.

The Tigers are currently 10th in the Premier League table with five points from four matches following a 2-2 draw with West Ham United at the KC Stadium on Monday.

The Yorkshire club made no fewer than 11 new signings in the summer transfer window, including that of Diame from West Ham United on deadline day.

Diame believes that it will take some time for the team to gel, but is confident that they will have a successful 2014/15 season.

"We can’t set any targets at the moment because we have brought a lot of new players in. We just need to play together more and see what happens,” the 27-year-old told the Hull Daily Mail.

“When we know each other better, we will be able to say what our targets are this year. We need to show to everyone now that we are a good team.

“We need to show everyone it’s difficult to take points here. We are going in the right direction, we just need to work hard in every training session.

"We have great quality in this squad and we just need play. I think something good will happen.”

Diame scored against West Ham and was delighted to make a contribution, although his enjoyment was spoiled by Hull's failure to hold on for victory.

“When you play against your old team you always want to show them that you were an important player for them,” he said.

“I really enjoyed my first game and I wanted to win this one. We drew and I scored, so I was happy.

“I thought it was the winner. I was very upset when we conceded the second because I wanted it to be the winner.”
