Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has rubbished reports suggesting that he may be prepared to send Chris Wood out on loan.

The New Zealand international was heavily linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers prior to the close of the summer transfer window.

No deal was agreed, permanent or otherwise, and Wood remains at the King Power Stadium.

He finds himself behind the likes of Leonardo Ulloa and David Nugent in the attacking pecking order, sparking reports that he may yet be heading out of Leicester.

Pearson, though, claims the 22-year-old remains part of his plans and should not be bracing himself for an imminent exit.

He said in the Leicester Mercury: “I have been told there’s been a suggestion generated elsewhere, but not as far as I am concerned.

“Why would I loan a player out?”

As he rules out one possible outgoing, Pearson has declared himself ‘happy’ with the business he was able to carry out on the recruitment front prior to the deadline passing.

If we missed out on players, then fine. If we had got to the last day of the season and signed no-one else, I would have been more than happy to go with the group of players we have got.

He added: “We’ve got the business done. Everything else is irrelevant.

“I was asked so many times about potential targets. You know how we work, I don’t go public, regardless of whether another manager chooses to go public, or talk about other people’s players.

“If we missed out on players, then fine. If we had got to the last day of the season and signed no-one else, I would have been more than happy to go with the group of players we have got.

“But we’ve added to the squad, so it gives us different dimensions. It makes us that little bit stronger.”
